Sardarnagar police have booked two individuals — a local man and a transgender woman from Mumbai — after a video showing them performing an obscene dance in public in Kubernagar, Ahmedabad, went viral on social media.
The video, which appeared on Instagram account @mukesh_makawana1, was discovered by police while monitoring social media on Monday morning. It showed a man and a transgender person dancing inappropriately late at night, allegedly making obscene gestures and engaging in physical contact in public view.
The clip, recorded on September 18, 2025, during the birthday celebration of Mukesh Makwana, spread quickly across social media. The transgender woman has been identified as Saiba Ansari, a resident of Mumbai, while the man in the video is Mukeshbhai Vibhabhai Makwana of B-Ward, Kubernagar.
A police officer from Sardarnagar said, “Around 11:55 am, our team found the viral video. Mukesh was identified locally, while the transgender woman was traced to Mumbai.”
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mukesh had invited Saiba to Ahmedabad for his birthday. The two allegedly performed the dance near a community board in Kubernagar and later shared the video on Instagram.
The Sardarnagar police have registered a case under the Gujarat Police Act, provisions against obscene acts in public under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act for transmitting obscene content online.
“The act was recorded in a public place and shared online, constituting public indecency and transmission of obscene material. Mukesh has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing,” the officer added.
