Schools in Ahmedabad that run pre-primary classes alongside primary classes are now required to get their pre-primary fees approved by the Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC). The decision was made in a meeting of the Ahmedabad Zone Fee Committee with District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Primary Education Officers (DPEOs) from nine districts.
The committee ruled that schools with classes 1 to 8 and pre-primary sections must seek mandatory FRC approval before collecting any fees. Standalone pre-schools will follow separate government directives.
Schools cannot collect fees without FRC approval. Violators will have to refund excess fees to parents and pay a penalty. Newly approved schools can only collect provisional fees until formal approval is granted.
The committee also emphasized strict deadlines for fee proposals and online affidavits. Delays in submission can cause delays in fee approval, and schools collecting fees without permission will face both refunds and fines.
Only the approved fee amount can be collected. Optional activity fees are allowed but must comply with FRC guidelines. To improve transparency, the committee instructed schools to publicize its website and email, enabling parents to file complaints directly if needed.
