The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence Ahmedabad arrested three masterminds in smuggling racket wherein goods worth more than Rs 100 crore were seized from the Mundra port nearly seven months ago.
The DRI investigation found involvement of these accused in the smuggling of E-Cigarettes, branded mobile accessories, premium branded shoes, bags, perfumes, and electronics items via the Mundra SEZ.
The accused attempted to import these items, declaring them as garments and mobile accessories.
The DRI had seized the goods in January.
The middlemen, who attempted to assist the cartel in getting the consignment cleared by the Indian Customs, had been arrested earlier.
The three masterminds allegedly accepted their active role in the smuggling. They have been arrested under the provisions of the Indian Customs Act.
