According to PTI, Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to a back injury. Bumrah missed the Asia Cup 2022 as well as the first T20I against South Africa. His injury is a significant setback for India’s chances at the T20 World Cup in 2022.
Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian team’s marquee pacer, has reportedly been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to a back injury. Bumrah is said to have suffered a stress fracture in his back, which will take 4 to 6 months to heal.
As per a report in PTI, Bumrah will not require surgery for the serious back injury but his chances of returning for the T20 World Cup are next to none. Bumrah trained only for a single day in Trivandrum and has now reportedly been sent to the NCA.
Bumrah had also missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to an injury before marking his return in the T20I series against Australia. He played the second and the third T20I against Australia but was ruled out of the 1st T20I against South Africa as well.
The pace marksman was reportedly not fully fit to face the Proteas. However, it has recently been reported that Bumrah’s injury is quite serious. Bumrah’s absence from the Indian team is significant, especially given how Indian pacers were thrashed in the Asia Cup.
Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, and Avesh Khan are all talented, but none of them can match Bumrah’s ability with the ball. Though Harshal and Arshdeep performed admirably in Bumrah’s absence against South Africa in Trivandrum on Wednesday, pinning all hopes on them in the T20 World Cup may be asking too much.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to make an official statement on the state of Bumrah’s injury. Some former cricketers even felt that Bumrah’s return for the Australia series was a premature one. A few even recommended giving Bumrah an extended break to have him fit for the T20 World Cup in Australia. But now, it seems the case is already over.
Indian cricket team for T20 World Cup 2022:
