Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have been dropped from India’s squad for T20I series against West Indies, the BCCI announced on Thursday.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee picked the squad for the five-match T20I series against the West Indies. The statement said that the inclusion of KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav is subject to fitness.
The new India’s Squad for T20I series against West Indies is – Rohit Sharma (C), I Kishan, KL Rahul*, Suryakumar Yadav, D Hooda, S Iyer, D Karthik, R Pant, H Pandya, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, R Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav*, B Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
The BCCI release didn’t mention the reason behind the exclusion of Kohli. However, it’s speculated that the former captain has been rested as he had asked for a break. It’s going to be the second time in the past couple of months that he has been offered rest. He did not feature in the home T20I series between India and South Africa, which took place after the conclusion of the IPL. He was also rested for the opening T20I against England in Southampton, after the rescheduled fifth Test.
