Tuesday witnessed substantial increase in daily cases in both Gujarat and Ahmedabad city, amid worries over the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
Gujarat reported 61 new cases, while Ahmedabad reported 25, accounting for 41% of the total. It was the state’s and city’s highest daily case count in the last five months. Surat city had 7 new cases, Bhavnagar had 6, Vadodara had 5, Valsad had 4, Jamnagar had 3, Kheda and Navsari had 2, and Ahmedabad, Anand, Gandhinagar, Junagadh, Kutch, Rajkot, and Vadodara had 1 each.
Municipal corporations accounted for 46 or 75% of daily taking the total to 8.35 crore. Out of 372 active patients – the highest since June 21- nine were on ventilator.
