With regular clinic hours expected to be affected during the Diwali holidays, residents of Ahmedabad can access medical advice through a special phone-based service launched by the Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) and the Ahmedabad Family Physicians Association (AFPA).
The annual ‘Doctor on Call’ initiative will operate from November 7 to 13, enabling residents to seek medical guidance when their regular doctors are unavailable or clinics are functioning with limited hours.
Running for more than a decade, the initiative aims to ensure continued healthcare support and emergency guidance during the festive period.
Under the arrangement, six designated doctors will act as primary coordinators, responding to calls, providing immediate medical advice and offering basic guidance free of cost. Patients requiring specialised treatment or emergency medical attention will be referred to the appropriate specialists.
“Our mission is to bring care, peace of mind and comfort to families across Ahmedabad so everyone can celebrate a safe and healthy Diwali,” said AMA President Dr Kalpita Dave.
