Television actor Anuj Thakur, who appeared in several shows, including Dhoom Machao Dhoom, Bandhan Saath Janmon Ka, Beendh Banoonga Ghodi Chadunga and Mahisagar, passed away on October 27. His sudden demise has come as a shock to friends and colleagues from the television industry.
The news was shared by his friend and casting manager Rupesh Sonar in an Instagram post. Sonar later revealed in media interactions that Thakur had reportedly suffered a seizure while sleeping and did not wake up.
Actor’s mother found him unresponsive in the morning
In a conversation with The Times of India, Sonar recounted what he learnt from Thakur’s family following his death. He said the actor had gone to bed as usual but did not wake up the next morning.
According to Sonar, Thakur was particular about his daily routine and usually started his day around 4.30 am with fitness activities and jogging. On the morning of October 27, however, he did not get up even after his alarm rang. His mother went to check on him and found him dead.
Sonar said he later met Thakur’s mother and brother, who informed him that the actor had suffered a seizure during his sleep.
Friend recalls their last meeting before his death
Sonar, who had known Thakur for nearly 18 years, said they had shared a professional association since 2008. Their first project together was Bandhan Saath Janmon Ka, after which they worked on several television productions.
He recalled meeting the actor just 10 days before his death and said Thakur was looking forward to returning to television. During their conversation, the actor had spoken enthusiastically about getting back to work.
Remembering him as someone who was warm and respectful towards everyone, Sonar said Thakur was always willing to help others. He described the actor as a younger brother and admitted that it was difficult to accept his sudden passing.
New York holiday with family was already planned
Apart from his professional plans, Thakur was also looking forward to spending time with his family. Speaking to HT City, Sonar revealed that the actor had been planning a trip to New York with his mother and brother.
The travel arrangements were reportedly complete, with the family having secured their visas and booked their flight tickets. Sonar said the thought of the holiday they had planned together made the loss even harder to process.
