Patan, 1st November 2026: A new chapter in healthcare began today with the inauguration of the Janata Cancer Hospital, thanks to the efforts of local donors and trustees.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the hospital’s significance, noting that Patan has long been a major healthcare hub in North Gujarat. Until now, specialized cancer treatment facilities were sorely lacking.
“This changes everything,” he said. “Now residents can receive quality care without traveling far.” He also raised concerns about rising lifestyle-related health issues, mentioning conditions like mental stress, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
Dr. Pramodbhai Patel, Managing Trustee of the hospital operated by Jeevan Jyot Charitable Trust, shared impressive statistics: over 15 lakh outpatient consultations and more than one lakh successful surgeries have already taken place since its inception.
The new facility boasts advanced technology including a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) for radiotherapy at a cost of around ₹22 crore. For patients holding Ayushman Bharat cards, PET Scan tests will be offered completely free—a first for North Gujarat.
- 15 lakh OPD consultations
- More than 1.50 lakh IPD treatments
- Over 50,000 MRI scans
The hospital aims to expand further by introducing super-specialty services like kidney transplantation and robotic surgery in the coming years. At today’s event, dignitaries participated in a ceremony to honor those who made this facility possible.
