The newly constructed stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway between Limkheda and Godhra in Gujarat has officially opened to traffic, nearly two months after its trial run. This 55-km section was inaugurated on the first day of Navratri.
Spanning approximately 1,350 km, the expressway is a major infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity between these two bustling cities. Construction kicked off in 2017, with initial completion targets set for 2024 before facing various delays.
The opening of this section means that motorists can now travel smoothly from Kharel in Navsari district all the way to Limkheda. Residents in Dahod district have eagerly awaited this development, which promises easier commutes and a boost to local economies.
Upcoming Developments
- A section connecting Limkheda to the Madhya Pradesh border is expected to be operational by late December or January next year.
- This will allow uninterrupted travel from Thandla in Madhya Pradesh to Delhi.
Toll collection at the Limkheda plaza is currently suspended but will begin on November 1. Motorists should plan accordingly as facilities like petrol stations and restaurants aren’t yet available along this stretch. It’s advisable for travelers to carry enough fuel and essentials before hitting the road.
