Employees threaten mass leave and indefinite strike over pending demands, Garvi portal glitchesEmployees of Gujarat’s Registration Department will launch a protest from October 12 over long-pending demands that remain unresolved.
The Gujarat State Registration Employees’ Federation has announced a phased agitation, warning that document registration could come to a standstill and cause significant revenue losses to the state government if the dispute continues. The employees are protesting against technical glitches in the online ‘Garvi’ portal used for document registration and controversial circulars related to property titles.
They have demanded the withdrawal of impractical circulars concerning property titles, improvements to the portal to make the registration process simpler, and an end to what they describe as harassment through show-cause notices and charge sheets issued over audit-related issues. The first phase of the agitation will begin on Monday, October 12, with employees submitting applications to registration officers at district headquarters.
On October 15, employees will perform their duties wearing black armbands as a mark of protest. In the third phase, registration department employees across Gujarat will take mass leave on October 22.The federation has warned that if the government fails to resolve the issues through negotiations by November 2, employees will launch an indefinite strike.
The proposed agitation adds to the growing list of protests by various employee groups and associations in Gujarat, increasing pressure on the state government to address their pending demands.
