Ahmedabad witnessed a security scare after emails threatening bomb blasts were sent to several locations, including 10 schools, the Gujarat High Court, Narendra Modi Stadium and singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert.
The schools named in the threat include Zydus School in Vejalpur, Bodakdev School for Children in Satellite, SGVP in Chharodi and Asia School on Sant Kabir Road and Drive-in Road.After receiving the threat, Zydus School informed parents and allowed students to leave the premises.
Similar precautions were reportedly taken at other schools, with parents being informed and asked to take their children home.The District Education Officer (DEO) instructed the schools to inform their respective local police stations and send students home to prevent panic and ensure their safety.
The email also reportedly threatened Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert and major stadiums, including Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on November 1 and Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on November 21.The threat was allegedly issued in the name of the “Khalistan National Army – Babbar Khalsa (Parmar-Canada)”.
The email also listed several names as its purported members, including Engineer Gurnakh Singh (Rukan Shahwala), Dr Gurnirvair Singh (Khan Rajda), Professor Gurkal Singh, PhD (Khem Karan), and Professor Gurungar Singh (Jandiala Guru).
Security agencies and police are expected to investigate the threat and verify its credibility. Ahmedabad has previously received similar bomb-threat emails targeting schools and government institutions, including the Gujarat High Court.
