The Gujarat Congress has alleged that a government fire tanker was used to clean the residence of sitting BJP MLA and former minister Bachu Khabad in Dahod’s Devgadh Baria, despite residents facing drinking-water shortages.
Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee Media Convener and Spokesperson Manish Doshi demanded an impartial inquiry into the alleged misuse of the emergency service. He claimed that residents in Devgadh Baria receive water once every two days, while a municipal fire tanker was allegedly deployed at the MLA’s residence for cleaning work.
Doshi questioned why a vehicle meant for emergencies such as fires and accidents was used for a private purpose. He also sought details of who authorised the deployment and under which rules the tanker was allowed to be used.
“An emergency service funded by taxpayers cannot become anyone’s private service,” Doshi said, alleging that the matter involved not only water wastage but also the misuse of government resources and a potential risk to public safety.
The Congress has demanded the tanker’s logbook and movement register, details of the quantity of water used, the cost incurred and the name of the official who authorised its deployment.
The party also questioned where the fire tanker would have been available had a fire or accident occurred in the area while it was allegedly being used for private work.
