The second day of GLS University’s three-day Youth Fest ‘NARRATIVE – Unfolding Stories of Youth 2026–27’, the 8th Chapter of the University’s Centennial Cultural Celebration, unfolded as a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture, performance and youthful expression.
The entire Youth Fest is being carried forward under the leadership and guidance of President of GLS University, Shree Sudhir Nanavati, and Executive Director, Dr. Chandni Kapadia, providing students with a dynamic platform to explore their creativity, celebrate culture and express their ideas through diverse forms of art and performance.
If Day One opened the festival with a wide spectrum of artistic, literary and performing expressions, Day Two took the stories further — from the runway and dance floor to music, theatre, fine arts and fantastical worlds. Across venues, students transformed their ideas into experiences, showing that a story does not always need words; it can be told through a movement, a colour, a costume, a melody or even a character.
*Fashion Becomes a Language of Stories*
At Tagore Hall, the Fashion Show became one of the highlights of the day, with nine student teams turning the runway into a canvas for stories of culture, heritage, mythology, social consciousness and contemporary realities. Fashion show press note.docx
The presentations travelled through diverse narratives — from ‘From Purity to Truth’ and ‘India in Space’ to ‘Unyielding Kutch’, ‘The Reversal’, ‘Chess’, ‘Shakti’, ‘Roots of India’, ‘Chauda Lok’ and ‘The Courtroom of Nature’. Through fashion, music, movement and visual expression, students explored themes ranging from India’s scientific aspirations and cultural heritage to gender equality, environmental responsibility, power and identity.
The Fashion Show demonstrated how fashion can move beyond aesthetics to become a powerful medium for storytelling, identity, heritage and social reflection.
*India’s Cultural Heritage Dances Onto the Stage*
The spirit of India came alive at Tagore Hall through the Indian Cultural Dance event, where nine student teams brought diverse folk traditions, devotion, heritage and regional stories to the stage.
From the hospitality of Kutch and the folk traditions of Gujarat to Rajasthan’s vibrant culture, Maharashtra’s Gondal tradition, Maa Amba’s devotion, Radha-Krishna’s eternal love and the energetic spirit of Punjabi Bhangra, every performance carried a distinct cultural identity. One presentation also traced GLS University’s journey from 1927 to 2027, connecting the institution’s century-long legacy with the celebration.
The event brought the idea of ‘Unity in Diversity’ to life, demonstrating how traditional dance continues to preserve heritage while giving young people a contemporary language of expression.
*From Mythology to Marvel, Imagination Takes the Stage*
The Cosplay Competition added another dimension to the day as students stepped into the worlds of mythology, fantasy, gaming, superheroes and popular fiction. Rather than simply recreating costumes, participants embodied their chosen characters through expressions, movement, confidence and performance.
The stage witnessed characters ranging from Ravana, Wukong and Galactus to Ada Wong, Optimus Prime, Ryuk and Nightbringer Lillia, alongside The Knight Unbound. Each performance interpreted a different world, personality or idea, transforming the stage into a series of extraordinary fictional universes.
*Fine Arts Turn Contemporary Ideas into Visual Narratives*
At the Faculty of Law, GLS University, the Fine Arts segment brought contemporary issues and imagination onto paper through On-the-Spot Painting and Cartooning. Participants explored themes including Life Without Internet, Viksit Bharat, My City, My Pride, Gen Z, Artificial Intelligence and Life Without Mobile.
Through colours, composition, humour, satire and visual storytelling, students reflected on changing lifestyles, technology, digital dependence, national aspirations and their relationship with their cities.
*A Day Filled with Many Forms of Expression*
The day continued with a rich mix of competitions including Western Vocal Solo, Indian Classical Solo Singing, Quiz – Final Round, Installation, Sound of GLS, Mono Acting, Instrumental – Percussion and Non-Percussion, Western Group Singing and other creative and performing arts events.
Together, these events created a day where every student had a different way to tell a story — some through rhythm, some through movement, some through performance, and others through colours, costumes and imagination.
*The Day Ends in One Shared Rhythm*
As the day drew to a close, the spirit of NARRATIVE came together in its most spontaneous form through a lively Jamming and Cypher Session, where students from different departments of GLS University came together to perform, collaborate and celebrate music. What began as individual voices and performances transformed into one shared space of rhythm, energy and expression, bringing students from across the University together.
The evening was a fitting conclusion to a day that had celebrated the many ways in which young people tell their stories — through fashion, dance, music, art, theatre and imagination. From traditional folk rhythms to contemporary expressions, from the colours of a canvas to the characters of fantastical worlds, Day Two of NARRATIVE 2026–27 became a celebration not just of talent, but of the diverse voices that make up the GLS community.
And as the final beats of the cypher faded, one message remained — when young minds come together, every voice becomes part of a larger story.
