A truck overturned and fell from a bridge onto the service road near Sindbad Hotel on the Ahmedabad-Mehsana Highway near Kalol on Tuesday morning. The truck’s cabin was badly damaged in the accident, while the driver sustained injuries.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred when a truck travelling ahead suddenly braked to avoid potholes on the highway. The driver of the truck behind reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn and fall from the bridge onto the service road.
The injured driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. Since the accident occurred early in the morning, traffic on the service road was relatively light, preventing a potentially major accident.
The incident also led to disruption in traffic on the highway, with motorists reporting a traffic jam since the early morning.
The accident has once again raised concerns about potholes and the condition of the Ahmedabad-Mehsana Highway, where motorists reportedly face damaged stretches at several locations.
