A 19-year-old college student died after being hit by a crane near Silver Oak College in Gota, Ahmedabad, on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Prerna Ninama, was a first-year BSc student at the college. According to preliminary information, she was walking around 200 metres from the college when a black-and-white crane allegedly hit her.
The impact caused her to fall onto the road, after which the crane reportedly overturned onto her. She suffered severe injuries and died at the spot.
Crane Driver Flees, Police Begin Investigation
Following the accident, the crane driver allegedly fled the spot. Local residents gathered at the scene and informed the police.
A traffic police team reached the spot and began an investigation. Police have registered a case and are making efforts to trace and apprehend the crane driver.
