The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony for 2024 was held at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat’s Narmada district on Tuesday, with President Droupadi Murmu presenting the awards. The ceremony was held outside New Delhi for the first time, against the backdrop of the Statue of Unity.
Kartik Aaryan and Mammootty shared the Best Actor in a Leading Role award for their performances in Chandu Champion and Bramayugam, respectively. Yami Gautam won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for Article 370.
Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag was presented with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024 in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema over a career spanning more than five decades.
‘Article 370’ Wins Best Feature Film
Article 370, directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, was named Best Feature Film. The film also won the Best Actress award for Yami Gautam and the award for Best Music Direction (Background Music) for Shashwat Sachdev.
Several major films also received honours. Kalki 2898 AD, Pushpa: The Rule Part-02, Stree 2 and Amaran were among the films that won awards in various categories.
The Gujarati film Maaran was recognised as the Best Gujarati Film at the 72nd National Film Awards.
