IndiGo passengers will now have to pay more for several additional services on domestic flights. The airline has revised charges for infants, excess baggage, unaccompanied minors, priority check-in and boarding, and travel certificates.
Infant fee increased to Rs 3,000
The fee for infants travelling with an accompanying adult on domestic IndiGo flights has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.
The charge applies to children aged more than three days and up to two years. Infants cannot occupy a separate seat and must travel on the lap of an accompanying adult. IndiGo allows only one infant per adult passenger.
The infant fee has to be paid at the time of booking. Passengers may also be asked to carry proof of the child’s age during the journey.
Excess baggage now Rs 800 per kg
Passengers carrying luggage above their permitted baggage allowance will also have to pay more. IndiGo has increased the excess baggage charge from Rs 700 to Rs 800 per kg.
This means passengers with excess luggage will now pay an additional Rs 100 for every extra kilogram.
Unaccompanied minor fee raised
The charge for IndiGo’s service for children travelling without an accompanying adult has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,999, subject to the airline’s applicable rules.
Priority check-in and boarding costlier
The fee for priority check-in and priority boarding has been increased from Rs 450 to Rs 650.
Passengers opting for the priority service will therefore pay Rs 200 more under the revised charges.
Travel certificate fee increased
IndiGo has also increased its travel certificate charge from Rs 200 to Rs 300.
The latest revisions mean passengers using these additional services will have to factor in higher costs while booking their domestic IndiGo flights.
