NTA invites experts for JEE, NEET and CUET question paper setting

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from eligible subject matter experts for empanelment to undertake question paper setting, translation and other confidential academic work for major entrance exams such as JEE, NEET and CUET.

Selected experts may be involved in question paper preparation and vetting, translation and multilingual equivalence, moderation, answer key verification, curriculum mapping and other academic activities, depending on NTA’s requirements.

Interested and eligible candidates can submit their EoIs as per the eligibility criteria and application process prescribed by NTA. The last date for submitting EoIs has been extended to October 9, 2026. Candidates have been advised to apply only for subject areas in which they have recognised expertise and sufficient academic or professional experience.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants should have a master’s degree or equivalent qualification in the relevant subject with at least 60% marks. The minimum requirement is 55% for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS and PwBD candidates. The degree must be from a recognised university or institution of repute.

For professional subjects such as Engineering, Medicine, Law and Pharmacy, an equivalent professional qualification will be accepted. A PhD in the relevant or allied discipline is preferred. For school-level subjects, a master’s degree along with substantial teaching experience may be considered.

Selection process

Stage 1: Document and eligibility verification
NTA will check the applications, qualifications, experience and supporting documents. Applicants who do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements or fail to complete the required integrity declarations will not proceed further.

Stage 2: Subject-matter evaluation
Applications that clear the first stage will be assessed based on academic qualifications, research record, previous question-paper setting experience and subject expertise. Subject Expert Committees constituted by NTA will conduct the evaluation.

Stage 3: Background and integrity verification
Shortlisted candidates will undergo background verification, including checks of academic qualifications, employment history, integrity declarations and conflict-of-interest disclosures.

Stage 4: Empanelment
Selected candidates will receive written confirmation of their empanelment, specifying the subject domain, level and type of work assigned to them. The empanelment will be valid for three years from the date of empanelment, subject to satisfactory performance and continued integrity. It may be terminated earlier in case of a breach of the terms.

Candidates can visit the official NTA website for further details about eligibility, application procedures and other requirements.
