Travel between Ahmedabad and Ujjain is set to become faster with the Ujjain-Garoth four-lane highway (NH-752D), which will provide a direct link to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
The new corridor is expected to reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Ujjain to around 5.5 to 6 hours, compared with the current 9 to 10 hours via the Jhabua-Dahod route.
The new route will also improve connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.The highway will benefit commuters from Indore and Dewas, which are connected to the Ujjain Ring Road, as well as residents of Ratlam, Mandsaur and other parts of the Malwa region. It will also strengthen road connectivity with Gujarat cities such as Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
The 136.1-km Ujjain-Garoth corridor passes through areas including Ujjain, Mahidpur, Ghatiya, Baroda, Alot, Suwasra, Shamgarh and Garoth.The project is being developed on priority ahead of Simhastha 2028, with the new road expected to make travel easier for devotees visiting Ujjain from Gujarat and other parts of the country.According to project officials, around 90% of the work has been completed.
The project is being developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,600 crore, with the remaining work expected to be completed soon.Once operational, the corridor will provide a faster connection between Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
