Passengers travelling through Surat International Airport can now spend their waiting or travel time with a book, following the launch of a free “Flybrary” initiative on Thursday.
The facility, an initiative of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), was inaugurated by Surat airport director Anand Sharma in the presence of Kumar Abhishek, CISF commandant and chief airport security officer.
The Flybrary has been introduced to encourage reading among air travellers and promote the circulation of books between airports. Passengers can select a book from the collection, read it during their journey or while waiting at the airport, and leave it at their destination airport once they have finished.
The initiative carries the message, “Read while you fly and drop the book at your next destination airport.” By allowing travellers to pass books on to other airports, the initiative seeks to create a shared reading network and encourage more passengers to make reading part of their travel experience.
