Gujarat University is likely to get a full-time vice-chancellor in the next few days, with the three-member search committee having shortlisted three candidates for the post.
Sources familiar with the development said the panel, formed after the end of Neerja Gupta’s term, scrutinised more than 100 applications before recommending Jagdish Joshi, Aalap Desai and Nitin Pethani to the state government.
Officials involved in the process said the state government has finalised the name of the next vice-chancellor, with an announcement expected after Janmashtami.
Meanwhile, Joshi, who is currently serving as in-charge vice-chancellor, has been taking several administrative decisions since assuming charge. It remains to be seen whether his tenure as acting V-C will end with the appointment of a full-time successor or whether he will be appointed to the post for a full term.
