The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has opened a new Terminal-2 at the Geeta Mandir Bus Port in Ahmedabad to improve bus services and reduce congestion. The terminal was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and became operational on August 13.
The new terminal has 39 platforms along with several passenger facilities, including waiting areas, separate general and ladies’ waiting halls, a passenger lounge, parking, a canteen, e-library, ticket counters, washrooms and a parcel room. Dedicated dormitory and rest-room facilities have also been provided for drivers and conductors.
Terminal-2 will operate around 1,091 buses every day to destinations across Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat.With the new terminal becoming operational, bus services at Geeta Mandir will be divided between the two terminals.
Terminal-1 will mainly handle buses travelling towards South Gujarat, while Terminal-2 will serve Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat routes.
Terminal-2 will operate buses to several cities and towns, including Rajkot, Morbi, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Mehsana, Palanpur, Patan, Himmatnagar, Gandhinagar and Mundra, among other destinations.
The new arrangement is expected to reduce overcrowding at Geeta Mandir Bus Port, improve bus movement and make travel more convenient for passengers.
