Indian Railways has approved a ₹153-crore project to build a four-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) at the Geratpur level crossing in east Ahmedabad. The project aims to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety and reduce congestion in the rapidly developing area.
Sanctioned under Western Railway, the ROB will replace the existing level crossing and allow vehicles to cross the railway tracks without having to wait for trains. The project is expected to ease traffic bottlenecks and improve connectivity for commuters in the area.The proposed ROB will have a 106-metre railway span, consisting of two 53-metre composite girders, followed by a 150-metre viaduct.
The railway approach road will extend for around 595 metres, with the longer stretch designed to suit the surrounding urban development.Once completed, the bridge is expected to reduce travel time, improve traffic movement and provide safer and smoother connectivity across the railway line.
