The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified Umarwada in Ankleshwar, Bharuch district, as a new customs location for handling import and export cargo.
The decision was announced through Notification No. 67/2026-Customs (N.T.), issued on July 31, 2026, which amends the 1997 customs notification to include Umarwada as an approved customs operations point in Gujarat.
The newly notified facility will allow the unloading of imported goods and the loading of export consignments, making customs clearance more accessible for industries in the Ankleshwar-Bharuch industrial belt.
The move is expected to reduce logistics costs and transportation time for manufacturers and exporters by bringing customs services closer to major industrial clusters in South Gujarat.
Officials said the new customs facility will strengthen trade infrastructure in Bharuch district and support Gujarat’s efforts to improve ease of doing business and boost exports.
