The sighting of a leopard in Ahmedabad’s upscale Bopal-Ghuma area triggered panic among residents after the wild animal was spotted moving through Sharandeep Society on Ghuma VIP Road late on Sunday night.
According to local residents, two passers-by first noticed the leopard near the residential complex and immediately alerted people in the area. The unexpected sighting left residents alarmed, prompting them to verify the incident by checking the society’s CCTV cameras.
The CCTV footage reportedly captured the leopard roaming inside the residential locality, following which society members informed the Forest Department.
A team of forest officials reached the spot soon after receiving the alert and launched a search operation. Officials are tracking the leopard’s movement using CCTV footage and footprints found in the area to determine its direction of travel.
As a precaution, the Forest Department has intensified surveillance in the surrounding localities and placed cages at strategic locations to safely capture the animal and prevent it from entering other residential areas or posing a threat to the public. Further monitoring of the area is underway.
