A tennis coach has been arrested by the Sola Police for allegedly sexually assaulting and raping a 13-year-old girl at a local club. The accused, identified as Nisarg Pandya, has been remanded to judicial custody following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s father.
According to police reports, the minor, a resident of the Ghatlodia area, had enrolled at the Babylon Club on Science City Road for tennis training during her vacation. Pandya began coaching her in March 2026.
The investigation revealed that the accused frequently offered to pick up and drop off the victim in his car. During these commutes specifically on the Science City connecting road and near the Gandhigram railway station—Pandya allegedly subjected the minor to physical assault.
The abuse culminated on June 6, 2026, when the accused reportedly took the girl into the Babylon Club’s washroom and raped her. Pandya then threatened the victim to prevent her from disclosing the incident.
In addition to the physical abuse, the accused allegedly harassed the victim by sending inappropriate messages to her Instagram account. The matter came to light after the girl’s parents grew suspicious of her behavior and questioned her, prompting her to reveal the ordeal.
“Following the complaint, the Sola Police swiftly apprehended the accused, Nisarg Pandya. His mobile phone has been seized for forensic examination, and he has been sent to jail,” stated Police Inspector K.N. Bhukan.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections, collected necessary medical and digital evidence, and are conducting further investigations into the matter.
