The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has introduced stringent security measures for handling temple donations following the arrest of an insider accused of stealing cash from the donation counting centre.
The move comes after the arrest of Anukalp Mishra, who allegedly misused an authorised insider pass to gain access to the secure counting area and siphon off donation money. In response, the Trust has overhauled its cash-handling procedures to enhance transparency and prevent similar incidents.
Under the revised protocol, the traditional table-and-chair arrangement in the counting hall has been discontinued, with staff now required to sit on the floor while counting donations. Employees engaged in the process must wear dark blue uniforms without pockets, while mobile phones, cameras and other electronic devices have been completely banned inside the counting hall. Staff are also prohibited from carrying bags, wallets or any personal belongings into the facility and must undergo two levels of security screening before entering. In addition, shoes and slippers are not permitted inside the counting area.

The security overhaul follows the alleged theft of temple donations, which has sparked concern among devotees and temple authorities.
Reacting to the incident, Mahant Dinendra Das Maharaj, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, demanded stringent punishment for those involved. Condemning the alleged theft, he said those who commit crimes at a place of worship deserve the harshest punishment and urged the judiciary to deal with the case firmly.
