The Sarkhej police have registered a case against a 35-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl repeatedly and threatening to leak her private photographs online. The First Information Report (FIR) was registered on July 3, following an official complaint lodged by the victim’s father. The accused has been identified as Vishal Raval, a relative of the family.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s father, an auto-rickshaw driver, the family lived in a rented house in the Sarkhej area between 2020 and August 2025. Raval moved into the same neighborhood with his parents in 2023. Given his relationship with the family, he became a frequent visitor to their home. The complainant stated that in 2024, Raval took advantage of the parents’ absence while they were at work to repeatedly enter the house and sexually assault the minor, capturing compromising photographs of her on his mobile phone.
The matter initially came to light when the family discovered the abuse and confronted Raval alongside other relatives. The accused was forced to delete the explicit photographs from his device and was warned to stay away from the victim. Following this confrontation, Raval left the area and relocated to his native village in the Patan district.
However, the ordeal resurfaced on May 31 this year when the victim informed her father that Raval had contacted her from a new phone number, threatening to make the photographs “viral” online. After family discussions, the father approached the Sarkhej police with the victim’s birth certificate to verify her age and formalize the complaint.
The Sarkhej police have initiated an investigation and are scheduled to record formal statements and send the mobile devices involved for digital forensic examination. No arrests have been made yet.
