The alertness of a Government Railway Police (GRP) constable averted a major tragedy after he rescued a passenger who slipped while trying to board a moving train at Rajkot railway station on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 10.50 am when the passenger attempted to board the Madgaon-Hapa Express after it had started moving. He lost his footing and was dragged dangerously close to the train, risking being pulled underneath
Seeing the passenger in distress, Head Constable Madhurajsinh Jadeja of the Surveillance Squad at the Rajkot GRP station immediately rushed to the spot and pulled him away from the moving train, preventing what could have been a fatal accident.
The passenger escaped without serious injuries due to the constable’s timely intervention.
The rescued passenger and his family expressed gratitude to the GRP for the swift rescue, while senior railway police officials commended Head Constable Jadeja for his courage, presence of mind and prompt action. They said his intervention exemplified the force’s commitment to ensuring the safety of railway passengers.
