When Devotion Finds a New Beat: Ahmedabad Tunes into ‘Bhajan Jamming’ for the Gen-Z Soul

Around 500 people gathered this Sunday evening as the city witnessed a unique confluence of tradition and contemporary rhythm. At FrizBee Food Park, bhajans returned, not as quiet, ritualistic hymns, but as an immersive musical experience crafted for a generation raised on rhythm and reels.

Conceptualised as “Bhajan Jamming for the divine Gen-Z,” the initiative by Mihir Events and Services, led by Ankit Chandarana, seeks to reintroduce faith through feeling rather than formality.

As the city eased into the night, the open-air venue transformed into a space where music became the medium of connection. The Vyas Brothers, known for their Naad Bhajan Jamming, led the evening, blending devotional lyrics with contemporary acoustic energy. Here, the line between performer and audience dissolved, claps turned into rhythm, and listeners became participants.

Unlike traditional bhajan gatherings, this format thrives on spontaneity and interaction. It is not about sitting in silence, it is about singing along, feeling the beat, and experiencing devotion in a way that feels personal and present.

Sharing the thought behind Naad, Neti Vyas says, “Bhajans have always been part of our lives, but the expression needed to evolve. Naad was born to present devotional music in a way that feels fresh yet rooted, bringing people together in an inclusive, collective musical experience.”

Adding to this, Bihag Vyas notes, “When bhajans are presented with a contemporary sound, young audiences connect instantly. Today, they don’t just listen, they participate, and that shared energy creates a deeper emotional bond with the music.”

Echoing the impact, the Vyas Brothers share, “When spirituality is experienced in an interactive format, it naturally draws the younger generation in. Bhajan Jamming creates a space where devotion is felt, not taught, bridging tradition with today’s audience.”

Organiser Ankit Chandarana explains, “Today’s generation often feels distant from traditional bhajans and kirtans. With Bhajan Jamming, we wanted to create a format that feels relevant to Gen-Z while preserving the essence of devotion, making spirituality more accessible and engaging.”

The evening became a shared spiritual experience for all age groups where music and togetherness took centre stage. As voices rose under the open sky, it quietly suggested that faith is not just in rituals, but in rhythm, connection, and the subtle stirring of the divine within.
