National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Gujarat has announced an indefinite hunger strike in Gandhinagar beginning May 19 over the alleged NEET paper leak issue, which has triggered concern among students and parents across the country.
Raising the slogan “We will not remain silent now,” the student organisation said the protest would be a peaceful but strong movement inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
According to reports, the fast will begin at 9 am at Satyagraha Chhavni in Gandhinagar. NSUI has appealed to NEET aspirants and their parents to participate in large numbers in support of justice for students.
NSUI spokesperson Sudhir Rawal reportedly said the protest aims to ensure strict punishment for those responsible for compromising students’ futures and to prevent such incidents from recurring.
“Our struggle will continue until students get justice,” he said.
The organisation has put forward three major demands:
- A strong mechanism to prevent paper leaks in government and competitive examinations.
- Strict legal action and severe punishment against those involved in the alleged scam and conspiracy.
- Immediate and satisfactory steps by the government to protect the interests of affected and hardworking students.
