Ahmedabad students are in limbo as they await the NEET results necessary for medical and dental admissions. But there’s more uncertainty brewing over nearly nine B-group paramedical courses, which don’t require NEET scores.
Despite the establishment of a new Allied and Healthcare Board this year, details on how admissions will work remain murky. Many students now fear they might wait two to three months before any admission processes actually kick off.
The NEET is key for enrollment into medical, dental, ayurveda, and homeopathy programs. In contrast, courses like nursing and several paramedical options—including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, audiology, and optometry—were previously managed by the medical board. They’re now expected to fall under the jurisdiction of the newly formed board.
Yet sources indicate that admissions for these paramedical fields might only commence after those for medical and dental pathways begin. Because of this delay, students exclusively interested in paramedical studies could face a wait of three to four months.
With over 30,000 seats available across various paramedical courses, the lack of official announcements surrounding admission procedures has left many confused. The absence of information regarding seat availability or new college approvals adds to their anxiety. Currently, all signs point towards a timeline where these admissions will only start once the NEET-based processes are underway.
