The first round of Class 1 admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act has concluded, with 77,925 students allotted seats in private schools across Gujarat.Despite the allotment process, nearly 5,753 seats remain vacant after the first round.
According to official guidelines, parents of students who have secured seats must confirm admission by visiting the allotted schools on or before May 12. If they fail to do so, the allotted seats will be cancelled, and the students will not be eligible for consideration in subsequent admission rounds.
As per available figures, around 2.4 lakh applications were submitted for 83,687 seats offered under the 25% RTE quota in private schools statewide.Of these applications, 54,588 were cancelled, while 2,034 were rejected due to incomplete documentation or ineligibility. Following scrutiny, nearly 1.86 lakh applications were found valid and were considered for the first round of seat allotment.
Officials said several seats remained vacant because many applicants did not choose certain schools during the selection process. These unfilled seats will now be included in the second round of admissions.
