The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued a yellow heat alert from May 4 to May 10, cautioning residents about rising temperatures. The city is expected to see maximum temperatures between 41°C and 42°C during this period.As part of its Heat Action Plan, AMC has identified 50 heat hotspots across 15 wards in six zones.
These areas, marked using air temperature data, are considered highly vulnerable to extreme heat, helping residents stay alert and take precautions.To keep people informed, AMC has introduced a digital portal and QR code system that offers three-day temperature forecasts, especially for peak heat hours between 12 pm and 5 pm.
The data is updated every three days, with a possible variation of 2–3°C.Several areas have been flagged as high-risk zones, including Vatva GIDC, Piplaj, Narol–Sarkhej Road, Sardarnagar near the airport, Chandkheda, Thaltej, Ramol, Vatva Railway Station, and Aslali Circle.
Residents, particularly in these hotspots, are advised to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
