The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has announced extended metro services in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar during Indian Premier League match days at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Metro services will operate till 12:30 am on April 4, 17, 20, 26, 30, May 3 and 12, when day-night matches are scheduled.
Normally, metro services in Ahmedabad run from 6:20 am to 10 pm, while the Gandhinagar route operates for shorter hours.On match days, special late-night services will run across key routes.Trains between Motera Stadium and APMC will run from 10 pm to 12:30 am. Services from Old High Court to Vastral Gam and Thaltej Gam will operate till 12:50 am. On the Gandhinagar line, trains from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir will depart at 11:40 pm and 12:10 am.During extended hours, passengers can board only from Motera Stadium and Sabarmati stations, but can travel to all operational stations on both Ahmedabad corridors and up to Mahatma Mandir.
Special ₹50 Ticket for Match Days
To manage the rush after matches, GMRC has introduced a flat ₹50 special paper ticket. This ticket will be valid for travel from Motera Stadium and Sabarmati to any operational station during late-night hours.Regular tickets, including smart cards, tokens, and QR tickets, will be valid only till 10 pm. After that, only the special paper ticket will be accepted for entry at designated stations.Passengers can buy these special tickets in advance on match days from 15 metro stations, including Nirant Cross Road, Kalupur, Old High Court, Thaltej, Motera, Sabarmati, and Mahatma Mandir.With large crowds expected at the world’s biggest cricket stadium, the extended metro service is likely to ease post-match travel and reduce road congestion around the venue.
