Traffic movement in Ahmedabad will be affected as the Shahibaug underbridge remains closed from April 3 to 7 for repair work by the Western Railway.
The work involves strengthening the railway track above the bridge and replacing old plates.Though approval was given earlier, the work was delayed due to continuous train operations. It will now be carried out daily between 12 noon and 5 pm.
Traffic Restrictions
During these hours, all entry and exit points of the Shahibaug underbridge will be shut for vehicles.
Alternative Routes
- Vehicles from Delhi Darwaja and Subhash Bridge going towards Airport or Gandhinagar can divert via Shilalekh Flats, Riverfront Road, and Dafnala.
- Traffic from Airport and Gandhinagar can use the Dafnala Riverfront route to enter the city.
- Those heading towards Asarwa, Girdharnagar, Delhi Darwaja, or Kalupur can pass through Shahibaug and take Mahapragya Bridge.
- Vehicles from Girdharnagar and Asarwa going towards Airport or Gandhinagar can travel via Shahibaug, Ankur, Gayatri Mandir, and Army Cantonment to connect with Airport Road and Indira Bridge.
Authorities have advised commuters to follow diversions and plan their travel in advance to avoid traffic congestion during the closure hours.
