Students who sat for the Class 10 mathematics exam in Gujarat on Monday described it as moderately difficult yet scoring. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) organized the test, during which several questions posed unexpected challenges, according to reports.
Many students struggled with time management, as tricky phrasing in Section A’s one-mark questions slowed their progress significantly. Experts pointed out that while five-mark questions demanded strong analytical skills, most of the other queries in Sections B, C, and D were directly sourced from textbooks—apart from a notably challenging polynomial problem.
In contrast, the Class 12 (Science) mathematics paper was considered easier. Here, most questions came straight from textbooks. However, some multiple-choice questions featured altered values that added a layer of complexity. Average students found this paper slightly lengthy but manageable.
The statistics exam for Class 12 (General) garnered praise for its simplicity. Subject expert Chirag Bhavsar commented that all questions were textbook-based and many students could likely secure scores of 90 or higher. Several are even expected to hit perfect scores.
Attendance numbers reflected some concerns. GSHSEB noted that out of 52,135 registered candidates across various streams, 253 did not show up for the exams. In Ahmedabad city alone, the absence rate was particularly high—37 out of 4,465 candidates didn’t attend.
