The Ahmedabad Police have announced a new initiative to streamline crime reporting related to the city’s expanding Metro Rail network. Police Commissioner GS Malik issued the notification, designating the Paldi and Khokhra police stations as primary points for handling such cases.
This change comes as the Metro system, now operational over 60 kilometers, crosses several police jurisdictions. The aim is to eliminate confusion and improve efficiency when it comes to reporting incidents on trains or at stations.
Simplifying Crime Reporting in Sector–1
In Sector–1, all crimes involving Metro assets will be managed by Paldi police station. This sector includes areas like Vastrapur, Ghatlodia, and Navrangpura among others. Passengers facing issues like theft or harassment within this area should report directly to Paldi.
Khokhra Takes Charge of Sector–2
Moving on to Sector–2, which covers Zones 4 through 6, Khokhra police station will handle all metro-related offences. Areas in this sector include Dariapur and Shahibaug. Any incidents occurring inside Metro trains or affecting infrastructure must be reported here.
This division into sectors aims to strengthen response times and enhance coordination between law enforcement and commuters. In addition, officials believe it makes reporting easier for passengers who might otherwise get shuffled between various stations.
Local Cases Remain with Respective Stations
The order also clarifies that local incidents not related to the Metro network—such as disputes occurring solely on station premises—will continue to be managed by their corresponding local police stations.
