Cadila Pharmaceuticals today commemorated the 100th birth anniversary of its Founder Chairman, Shri Indravadan Modi, a pioneering visionary widely revered as the Father of Indian Pharmacy.
Born at a time when India’s pharmaceutical ecosystem was at a nascent stage and heavily dependent on imports, Shri Indravadan Modi foresaw the urgent need for a self-reliant healthcare infrastructure. With unwavering conviction and a deep sense of national purpose, he laid the foundation of Cadila Pharmaceuticals—driven by the belief that quality medicines should be affordable and accessible to every Indian.
At a time when indigenous pharmaceutical manufacturing was limited and scientific resources were scarce, Shri Indravadan Modi demonstrated extraordinary foresight by investing in research, local manufacturing capabilities, and talent development. His vision went beyond business—to nation-building through healthcare, ethics, and innovation.
Over the decades, Cadila Pharmaceuticals has evolved into a trusted name in the Indian pharmaceutical industry, carrying forward its founder’s principles of integrity, compassion, and scientific excellence. The company’s growth mirrors the transformation of India’s pharma sector—from import dependence to becoming one of the world’s leading suppliers of affordable medicines.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajiv Modi said,“My father believed that medicines are not merely products, but a social responsibility. When he started Cadila, India lacked a strong pharmaceutical backbone, yet his faith in Indian science and his commitment to society never wavered. As we mark his centenary, we reaffirm our commitment to his vision—of serving humanity through ethical and accessible healthcare.”
Even a century later, his ideals continue to inspire generations of scientists, healthcare professionals, and Cadilians—reinforcing the belief that true leadership is measured not by success alone, but by impact.
