Two persons were killed and two others seriously injured after a car crashed into a divider on a railway bridge near Jetalsar Junction in Jetpur of Rajkot district early Saturday morning.
Police said the impact of the collision was so severe that the car split into two parts. The occupants were returning from a Maha Shivratri fair in Junagadh when the accident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as Muskan Bagda and Arun Wala, who died on the spot. Two others, Amit Parmar and Jaideep Chauhan, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rammed into the central divider of the bridge with great force, causing the vehicle to break apart. The accident led to temporary traffic congestion in the area until police cleared the road.
Authorities have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and further investigation into the incident is underway.
