Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to various cities and districts of Gujarat from January 10 to 15, the state police have been placed on high alert to ensure tight security arrangements.
According to orders issued by the Director General of Police (DGP), all leaves of police officers and personnel across Gujarat have been cancelled from January 7 to January 12, 2026. The decision has been taken in view of the Prime Minister’s scheduled programmes at multiple locations in the state.
As per the directive, no leave will be granted during this period except in unavoidable circumstances. Police personnel who are currently on leave have also been asked to report back to duty immediately to meet the security requirements of the visit.
Sources said Prime Minister Modi is likely to attend events in cities including Somnath, Rajkot and Ahmedabad. With several high-profile programmes planned, the entire Gujarat police force will remain on active duty and on full alert during this period.
