A Class 12 student from Anand, Vaishnavi Bhatia, has emerged as Gujarat’s top ranker in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)-2026, securing an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 37. An Ahmedabad student also featured among the top performers with an AIR of 99.
What makes Vaishnavi’s achievement remarkable is that she prepared without attending expensive offline coaching centres, relying instead on online coaching. CLAT-2026 is the gateway to premier law institutions in the country, including the National Law Universities.
Vaishnavi appeared for the examination at the Vadodara centre and is one of only two students from Gujarat to secure a place in the top 100 nationwide. Sharing her journey, she said she opted for a year-long online coaching programme. Her interest in law was inspired by her father, who encouraged both his daughters to consider the field. Her elder sister is currently studying at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), which helped Vaishnavi gain a clear understanding of the CLAT process. Her father is a businessman, while her mother is a teacher.
She said she initially studied for three to four hours daily, later increasing her preparation time to five to six hours along with her schoolwork. “There was no pressure from my family, which really helped me stay focused,” she added.
With her strong performance, Vaishnavi hopes to secure admission to the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, or NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. She has also cleared the NLU Delhi entrance exam with a rank of 73 and is expecting a call for admission from the institute.
