The city District Education Officer (DEO) has issued show-cause notices to seven schools, mainly located in Sarkhej, Juhapura and Makarba, for operating without mandatory Building Use (BU) permission.
In the notices, the DEO stated that the schools have been functioning without the required BU clearance, posing a serious risk to the safety of students and others. It may be noted that the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) recently sealed these seven schools for violating civic norms.
The DEO informed the schools that although arrangements may have been made for online education, they must immediately initiate steps to obtain BU permission. The notice further warned that failure to secure the required permission could force the authorities to take further action, including cancellation of the schools’ recognition, as per rules.
