Ahmedabad’s air quality worsened on Thursday, with several zones slipping into the ‘poor’ category. The city’s average AQI stood at 177, well above the safe limit, while multiple monitoring stations recorded troubling spikes.
Rakhial reported the highest AQI at 259, followed by Gyaspur at 250, the airport area at 249, Ghatlodia (Chandkheda) at 204, and Bopal at 199. Only Satellite stayed in the moderate range with an AQI of 134. Across Gujarat, Surat recorded the highest AQI at 277.
According to pollution norms, an AQI of 201–300 is considered ‘poor’, 301–400 ‘very poor’, and 401–500 ‘severe’.
