Man sets himself on fire at Sarkhej hospital after months of harassing woman; dies of burns while victim remains unconscious
A shocking incident unfolded in Ahmedabad’s Sarkhej area, where a man who had allegedly been harassing a woman for six months set himself on fire inside Al-Noor Hospital.
Police said 28-year-old receptionist Saleha Abdulkadar Sheikh had been facing harassment from her neighbour, Kamran. On Thursday around 8:30 pm, Kamran confronted her at the hospital, leading to a heated argument. He then poured petrol on himself, ignited a lighter, and ran while engulfed in flames—jumping from the first floor and entering a nearby dental clinic, causing damage.
He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Saleha, who fell unconscious during the incident, remains admitted, though she did not suffer physical injuries. Sarkhej police have registered a case and begun investigation.
