St Xavier’s High School Loyola Hall has received strong parent support for its proposal to introduce CISCE affiliation for Classes 1 to 5. The school held its first meeting with parents on Tuesday to outline the plan and address concerns.
The grant-in-aid institution clarified that it is not fully switching boards but looking to offer parents and students an additional option. The move will proceed only after required permissions are obtained from the Gujarat Board and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE).
According to school manager Father Patrick Arockiam SJ, nearly 1,000 parents attended the meeting, of whom about 60% gave their consent. “The meeting was meant to explain the proposal and seek approval. We also assured parents that choosing CISCE will not lead to arbitrary fee hikes; fees will follow Fee Regulatory Committee norms,” he said.
Parents also expressed concerns about a complete shift away from the Gujarat Board, citing limited alternatives for quality English-medium education in the area. Addressing this, the school confirmed it plans to offer both Gujarat Board and CISCE streams on separate premises, depending on student numbers.
The management added that closing grant-in-aid sections entirely may not be feasible, and these would continue in higher classes.
With parent consent underway, the school will now begin the process of seeking a No Objection Certificate from the Gujarat Board before approaching CISCE for affiliation. The procedure may take over a year, school officials noted, adding that teachers are being consulted at every step.
