After a directive from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, road construction in Ahmedabad has intensified, with the AMC targeting completion of 200 roads by December 31.
Following a review meeting with the CM, the municipal commissioner convened an urgent session with engineers across all zones to speed up pending projects and prioritise resurfacing of pothole-ridden stretches.
So far, work on 32 roads has been completed. To meet the aggressive year-end deadline, 13 asphalt plants are operating 24×7, enabling around 7,000 metric tonnes of resurfacing daily.
To ensure quality, the commissioner also inspected ongoing hot-mix work on the new 30-metre-wide road from Nirvana Party Plot to the SP Ring Road near SG Highway.
