Preparing for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, authorities have begun clearing stray cattle from major public areas in West Ahmedabad. The police commissioner has officially declared several locations in New Vadaj, Naranpura and the Stadium ward as ‘No Cattle’ zones. Strict action will be taken against owners if cattle are found in these areas, and selling grass or fodder in public places has been prohibited.
Stray cattle regularly cause road accidents in the city, injuring pedestrians and two-wheeler riders. To curb such incidents and ensure smooth movement during large-scale events, police have tightened restrictions.
As per the public notice, all cattle owners — including those with cows and buffaloes — must register their animals with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation within 60 days. Each animal will require a chip or tag, and any change in ownership must be reported.
