Fresh irregularities have been uncovered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-MA (PMJAY-MA) at Jamnagar’s JCC Heart Institute, where investigators found evidence of tampered medical reports and fraudulent cardiac procedures.
According to the Gujarat Health Department, the hospital altered laboratory and ECG reports in several cases to falsely suggest that patients required heart treatment. Further inquiry revealed that multiple unnecessary cardiac procedures were carried out to claim insurance benefits under the scheme.
An audit of 262 cases exposed discrepancies in 53 procedures, confirming large-scale malpractice. The government has imposed a penalty of over ₹6 lakh and suspended Dr Parshva Vhora (G-28538) for his involvement.
Taking strict action, the Health Department has removed JCC Heart Institute from the PMJAY-MA panel, prohibiting it from offering treatment under any state or central health insurance scheme.
Health Minister Prafull Pansheriya described the case as a serious breach of medical ethics and misuse of a welfare scheme meant for the poor. He added that, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the government has intensified audits to identify and prevent corruption in the healthcare sector.
